{"id":1223,"date":"2020-04-16T12:23:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-16T11:23:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aroundersenseofpurpose.eu\/cat\/?p=1223"},"modified":"2021-07-21T07:01:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T06:01:11","slug":"criticality-sdg9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundersenseofpurpose.eu\/cat\/criticality-sdg9\/","title":{"rendered":"Cr\u00edtica ODS9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In groups, students analyse different advertisements with different messages e.g. car advertisements with women up front, swiss chocolate; Groups discuss the advertisement from the following viewpoints:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What qualities is it seeking to attribute to the product&nbsp;?<\/li><li>What social, political, economic, cultural and\/or ecological images is it using?<\/li><li>Is it seeking to exploit nature or a cultural or social issue?<\/li><li>What is really being sold?<\/li><li>How might the advert affect the way we think about social, political, economic, cultural and\/or ecological issues?<\/li><li>What are the key sustainable development issues associated with the advert?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The group then \u2018fact checks\u2019 to find a more objective way of displaying the article, including pros and cons of its use. The results are presented and then the group reflect on the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Possible further activities: Find out how shop-windows and\/or TV-internet adverts use social, political, economic, cultural and\/or ecological images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Useful text: Critical thinking about consumerism and consumer focused industry (from Tilbury, Wortman: Engaging people in sustainability, chapter 3, critical thinking and reflection.
